There were many aspects of today that I already knew, google groups, drive etc. For me it is when I need to get to the "nitty gritty" of computers I find frustrating. for example I had already bookmarked my P.D blog yet it was not there, so therefore I have to go back and redo it, which is very time wasting. It takes me so long to learn the practicalities of online teaching.
Why are there apps on my computer that I do not know about or how to use, case in point, loom google. And another app which I don't know about Read and Write for Chrome Should there be instructions about that in a Manaikalani group? Or is that and should it be school based facilitator? I had to research apps for lockdown and loved Jamboard and flipgrid, is this going to be talked about?
I did struggle with some of the aspects of it e.g voice to text- as I believe that every child should be able to have a visual/oral voice, not a hidden voice, via a computer, e.g case in point a wee autistic girl would love to do voice to text all of the time, but I believe its important for her to know I am hearing her. An Aspergers boy, who over lockdown said absolutely nothing, mum said loves voice to text, but I have made him talk..... wow what a change in this boy, by praise and not allowing him to use the easy option. Voice to text great for competent students and fun. I think we need to be careful what we allow our students to use, as often we will take the easy option as teacher's.
I enjoyed the time to explore along the way. I can see the value of I.Pads in a year 2 class but I also acknowledge that after lockdown they didn't want a bar of IPads.
I have a learning site that I do not utilise and want to know how to make the most best use of that. I have a blog, which kids can't blog onto which is annoying, not to yr 3 and I have yr2 .
If we have a class blog surely they should be able to blog onto it, after sighted by teacher.
